Project | 01 Georeferencing of Scanned Aerial Imagery and Change Detection

This project was conducted for the Introduction to Remote Sensing course at Niagara College. The purpose of the project was to georeference historical aerial imagery of the Welland Canal using ArcGIS and analyze its changes throughout history. What was discovered was the canal and surrounding area has drastically changed since 1921, with the opening of the ‘fourth’ and final canal as well as the addition of the General Motors plant and some restoration of vegetation in the area

Project | 02 Geometric Correction, Orthorectification, and Mosaicking

This project was conducted for the Digital Image Processing course at Niagara College. The purpose of the project was to orthorectify and geometrically correct 3 images using ERDAS to see the differences in methods. The orthorectification was done using the Camera Model Method and the geometric correction was done using the Polynomial Correction Method. For each method, the three images were mosaicked together at the end to see the accuracy. It was concluded that the orthorectification using the Camera Model Method was much more accurate.
